Brigade Overview
Sept 19th

Nightfall finds the Union Army of the Cumberland spread dangerously thin.  Johnson’s isolated division begins the withdrawal that Cleburne’s attack interrupted.  Baird and Palmer consolidate around the Kelly farm.  Croxton and Negley hold the center while Sheridan, Davis, and Wood have a tenuous position around the Viniard farm to the south.

The Confederate Army of Tennessee finds itself in a slightly better position.  Its units are more or less together in a continuous line, with a gap around the Brock farm.  Corps organization has been broken however, with the divisions of Polk and Buckner’s corps on opposite ends of the battlefield.
