Widow Glenn Cabin
Sept 20th
Laiboldt’s brigade charges down the hill straight into Deas’ Brigade advancing from the east. Deas’ men far outflank the Federals, since Laiboldt is deployed in a single column of regiments. Laiboldt’s brigade is smashed and quickly routed.
Anderson’s Brigade moves into the gap between Deas and Manigault. Manigault approaches the Widow Glenn cabin. The only units left on the hill are a few companies of the 27th Illinois and 21st Michigan left behind as skirmishers.
Lytle’s brigade pushes back skirmishers from Deas’ Brigade, and manages to form in line of battle below the hill.
Wilder’s Lightning Brigade begins moving north, dismounted, in line of battle, and in a column of regiments. |
