Union Order of Battle

During the Chickamauga Campaign the organization of the Union Army of the Cumberland remained essentially the same.  There were some detachments for garrison duties and wagon train protection, as well as a few unit consolidations on the second day of the battle, but the actual organization of the Army didn’t change.  The same cannot be said for the Confederate Army of Tennessee.

The Union Order of Battle pages are in four parts:

The Campaign
Here you will find the strength and organization of the Army of the Cumberland at the beginning of the Chickamauga Campaign.

September 19th
A look at the strength and organization of the Army on the first day of the battle.  Since many of the reports don’t distinguish between the battle starting on Sept. 18th or 19th  (although many do), I have decided on using Sept. 19th as the beginning of the battle for the purposes of this Order of Battle.

September 20th
The organization of the Army of the Cumberland on the second day of the battle.  These pages report unit strengths for the second day, where available.

Casualties
This page reports the casualties for the Army of the Cumberland, by regiment, for the entire battle.
