The Battle of Chickamauga began on the morning of September 19^th at Jay’s Mill.  The spring at the mill saw some of the first shots fired during the pre-dawn hours.  Reed’s Bridge, the focus of much of the skirmishing on the previous day, was also burned at dawn.
