Artillery, 1st Division, Fourteenth Corps

The artillery battalions of the infantry divisions were an administrative organization, not a combat one.  The individual batteries were assigned to the brigades in the division and took orders from brigade's commanding officer.  The commanding officer of the division's artillery was also administrative, and they also sometimes commanded their own battery in combat in addition to this administrative function.
