Quarles' Brigade

Brigadier General William A. Quarles

The strength of the brigade was taken from the returns for the District of the Gulf from where
the brigade was transfered in mid-May. The 1st Alabama and 30th Louisiana were added to
the brigade for the transfer. The strength of the 1st Alabama is taken from returns of January
20th, 1864. The strength of the 30th Louisiana is estimated from its parent brigade on the
same returns. The brigade's strength is a best guess, and certainly not 100% accurate.
