Maps of Allatoona Pass The Battle Then and Now |
Union Order of Battle
EES- Effective Enlisted Strength. Not a standard used by the Union Army records, but most of the units at Allatoona only have the number of enlisted men present on record. Therefore, I created this designation to make where I got the rest of the numbers easier to understand. To get the PFDE with officers, divide the EES by .93, a number both Livermore and Newton found to be remarkably consistent. PFDE- Present For Duty, Equipped. Those present on the firing line actually shooting, but in Union records often does include officers, making it slightly different from the Confederate Effective Strength. PFD- Present For Duty. All soldiers present with the unit at the time of battle, including essential non-combatants such as musicians, stretcher bearers, etc. Numbers in black were taken directly from primary sources AND column totals, whether the numbers in those colums were derived from primary sources or formulas. Numbers in red were derived from a formula based on research. Click here for the Confederate Order of Battle
